All right Oppo, another question for you: What car(s) are in your garage right now? Basically, what cars do you own? If you have ‘em or can get ‘em, I’d like pics, but anything goes really. Have at it, Oppo!

The CTI is in storage at my wrenching club, the GTI is in my garage, the Golf I parked in a shed in 2013, the 306 convertible is in my company’s parking garage, the Galant has become the tempory DD of my BIL and will be our chariot of choice for an upcoming banger race and the 406 is parked right outside.

Literally in my garage right now is my very dirty/rusty (I took this picture today) 2002 P71 Crown Vic.
Tucked away in a secret underground storage vault (or a lean-to I bolted to the back of my dad’s garage specifically for storing this) however, is my ‘71 Chevelle I DD’ed for a couple years. Planning to get it back on the road this spring (this is a fairly old picture, it’s very sad/dirty these days after sitting for 3+ years under a cover, blankets, and a tarp).

I anticipated my current homelessness and didn’t want to ship it across the country (Army is moving me from GA to El Paso). Like the Viper, it was a childhood dream car. I had fun with it and sold it for a decent profit before having to pour a lot of money in it.
If you are deciding between a Viper and a classic mini, pick the mini. Way more fun.

It’s an ‘86 CS Quattro and is pretty beat up at this point, it was given to me. The diff locks work though! I daily drove it for while, then turned it into a LeMons car. We got 4th at Altamont in 2008 with it, and won the coveted “Fastest Deutsche Hooptie” medallion, which still hangs from the rear view.
I have a heap of spare parts to put it back to street use, and the cage is beautiful, done by a Porsche fabricator friend of mine. Another project that’ll need some time to put right. I’ve thought of selling it and getting another that’s just a stock street car because I really like them.

That is the plan. I had wanted to do an aggressive hot street/track setup, but I’ve aged a bit so I’ll probably tone that down. Still, the (partially assembled) engine is bumped to 9.5:1, I have Weber DCOEs, a 3:90 LSD, a 5 speed, coilovers with Bilsteins and bigger brakes from Ireland Engineering, plus some other suspension bits. I’ve thought about going higher compression, but that means higher dollars so I’ll probably just run it like that then build another engine. It’s not going to happen for awhile, parenthood and its attendant lack of time and money have taken precedence.

Phase 1 this spring/summer is getting it back to daily driver spec, needs a new exhaust system, I’m probably going to rebuild the trans, and some odds and ends to get it back into a regularly-drivable condition.
Long term it’s staying a DD but I’ll give it a full restoration, keeping it looking stock and built to drive, but with heavily upgraded suspension, built engine, 5 or 6-speed manual, etc.

Two Weber 45 DCOE sidedrafts, which are actually too big for the engine as it sits, so I’ll put smaller venturis in them. The engine is bored .030 over though. It already has a cage of sorts in it, but it’s aluminum and more for show, done by the previous owner. I’d like to put a 4 point in the back, with a bolt in harness bar so I can retain occasional use of the back seats. It has 320is Recaro seats in it now, which are ok, but I’m not sure I want to go for a real race chair. We’ll answer that question when I drive it :)
I’ve actually wanted to road trip to the Vintage for years, it always seems amazing in pictures and I’d love to be part of it with my own car.
